Welcome to Ladybird Class!
Term1 and 2 : All about me/ Superheroes
We are so delighted to welcome our new reception children into Ladybird class alongside our returning year 1's and 2s.
This term we will be exploring what makes you, you! and learning all about ourselves.
We will be exploring the book Once There Were Giants to support how children’s lives have changed since they were babies. We will also look at events beyond living memory marking Remembrance in November and Bonfire Night.
We will have lots of fun looking at superheroes and the story of "Supertato" before considering everyday Superheroes and receiving an exciting visit from our local fire brigade.
Children will be exploring their immediate world locating where the school is on an aerial photograph and recognising features within the local environment. They will create maps and models of the school.
Then of course we will be preparing for our Christmas Nativity. What a magical time!

Our School Value for Term 1 is Nurturing
We will be exploring how different Bible stories link to this theme and will continue to link our learning to our “10 things to do before you leave Fletching” points.
Phonics
Once the new Ladybirds have settles we will be embarking on our phonics journey, following our validated programme- Little Wandle, children will receive daily sessions of 5-15 minutes- built up over the year.
