Attendance
Good attendance is very important as it affects a child’s success in learning and helps to support them to reach their full potential.
At Fletching, we are always striving to increase school attendance and work alongside parents and carers to do this. We will look at ways to support parents to improve their child’s attendance and remove any barriers.
Parents can view their child’s attendance figure at any time of the year via Arbor.
What is good attendance?

This table shows the approximate relationship between attendance percentage and how many days a year a child has missed. A school year is 190 days in total which leaves 175 days non – school days for holidays etc.
Good attendance is very important as it affects a child’s success in learning and helps to support them to reach their full potential. Absence from school can impact a child academically and socially and cause them to miss out on exciting opportunities.
Good attendance means being in school at least 96% of the time or 182 – 190 days. If your child’s attendance falls below 95%, you may be contacted to come into school for a discussion to look at how we can work together to improve your child’s attendance and remove any barriers.
Requesting Absence
If you plan to take your child out of school during term time, a withdrawal from learning form, must be completed at least 2 weeks in advance. The forms can be found at the link below or at the school office. Following the submission of the form, your request will either be authorised or unauthorised.
